I’m not joking. I really would like to write you a letter. You see, I hardly ever write letters to people. They are quite a rare thing nowadays and it’s time to bring them back.
Receiving an email just isn’t the same. Two clicks and it’s there. How dull. Nothing quite beats walking out to your letterbox, opening it up and finding a slightly worn envelope in there. Especially if it has some interesting stamps that you haven’t seen before.
Letters require more effort. They have to be written out, put into an envelope and sent in the mail. Physically carried from one place to another.
Writing a letter is something that we all need to do a little more often.
So, if you would like to start a correspondence with me, please send me your postal address. Just click here and send it to me. I will also send you mine. Please include at a minimum your name. If I don’t know you at all, the first letter you get from me will probably include an awful lot of questions. The deal is that you have to reply by LETTER. None of this replying by fb / email / sms.
This little social experiment ought to be interesting. At most I will have a load of interesting letters. At least I will have significantly improved my penmanship.
If you don’t want a letter from me, send one to a friend of yours. Even if they live across town. Get their address and write them a letter. Nonsensicalness or serious - just do it.
